Successful "live" oil recovery tests in Chinese waters
On August 26, 2012, our 6m EST skimmer prototype recovered Bunker C and diesel oils off the coast of China in tests ordered by its Maritime Safety Administration (MSA) or coast guard. At varied speeds, the skimmer captured everything it ran over, and later inspection confirmed that no oil adhered to the underside of the vessel aft of the mid-ship collection point. An MSA official present said he was amazed that both types of oil were collected so quickly where conventional skimmers would have been ineffective. Industry giants PetroChina and Sinopec expressed interest and requested video footage of the tests.
